PSSMA Announces Leadership Changes and Industry Excellence Award Recipient at Annual Meeting
COOPERSBURG, PA (November 14, 2024) — The Paper Shipping Sack Manufacturers’ Association held their 2024 annual meeting October 22-25, 2024, at The Wigwam in Phoenix, Arizona.
Signaling a change in leadership, outgoing PSSMA Chairman Dale Stevens of Hood Packaging Corporation handed the ceremonial gavel over to Clint Sells, board member and Vice President of Sales for The Robinette Company.
Mr. Stevens indicated his confidence in Mr. Sells for the lead role in the organization and provided strong words of encouragement. Mr. Sells thanked Mr. Stevens and noted that he had been very effective in the Chairman position during his two years of service, contributing to growth in membership and instrumental in introducing several new initiatives beneficial to the association and the industry. Those included a more robust safety program, improvements to meeting content and formats, and the establishment of the PSSMA Annual Scholarship fund benefiting students enrolled in Clemson University’s School of Packaging.
The PSSMA’s 2024 Annual Richard E. Storat Industry Excellence Award, representing the PSSMA’s highest honor, was announced and presented to long-time board member Carlos A. Garcia of Endpak Packaging Inc. Mr. Garcia humbly accepted the award, expressing his surprise and utmost respect for Richard Storat, who had served as President of the PSSMA from 2003 to 2016, and Treasurer until his passing in 2023. Mr. Garcia shared his appreciation for the PSSMA, having been its former chairman from 2018-2020.
Former Associate Vice Chairperson Mark Edwards of Sylvamo was also recognized by the group for his work on leading the successful PSSMA Bag Boot Camp in May of 2024.
